Installation and configuration
Enable the storefront protection
Open the app in Shopify Admin, go to Settings, select Open theme editor, enable the Product Availability Control app embed, and save the active theme.
Activate checkout validation
From Settings, open checkout rules and activate the Product Availability Control validation rule. This is the final server-side protection layer.
Apply a first test rule
Choose one test product or variant, apply a rule, open its storefront page, and continue through cart and checkout before applying rules in bulk.
Common questions
Does Quantity Buffer change Shopify inventory?
No. It reduces the quantity available for online purchase while leaving Shopify inventory available for in-store sales, wholesale orders, transfers, and other operations.
When does Scheduled Release open a product?
At the chosen date and time in the store timezone. The product page can show a countdown while online purchase remains blocked.
Why is online purchase still available?
Confirm the app embed is enabled and saved in the active theme, then confirm the checkout validation rule is active in Settings. Refresh the storefront after changing a rule.
